When the moody, melancholic original version of Adeline’s ‘Love Handles You’ hit eardrums back in March, it moved swiftly in popularity, with DJ’s and the users of Beatport alike.

The combination of a deep beat and an even deeper vocal, provided by Swedish-born Adeline herself, made everyone stand up and pay attention. This included Crosstown Rebels head honcho, Damian Lazarus, who has personally commissioned Adeline for the monster Rebel Rave party at this years Sonar.

And now, the Adeline sound is back. It has been reversioned, into three different and dynamic remixes by Camea, Fur Coat and Diskjokke, respectively. The EP is to be released, just like the original, on Kindisch, the deep house and techno offshoot of Get Physical records.

Fellow dance music matriarch Camea comes up first, with a slow techno uplift. The sound is driving and interesting, with the use of echo and reverb creating a great build for a quite unexpected drop just after the 2 minute 50 mark. Adeline’s vocals sound different, although the rudimentary beat is there. Overall, the track sounds completely fresh – rather than a remix.

In comparison to the previous, Norwegian DJ Diskjokke interrupts with an uptempo onslaught. His adaptation is punchy, with an introductory, knee knocking beat building up the atmosphere for what is to come. This track again provides an unexpected break in tempo, just past the mid section, with a smooth, circling bass driven beat that rotates around your head in an addictive manner.

Stylish Venezuelan duo Fur Coat provide the concluding remix, and the one which sounds the most different from the original. It is dark, with deep beats and attitude, yet still letting the vocal take centre stage. The track is domineering, and completely alluring to the ears. The immensity is sometimes rather hard to bear, as it almost assaults the listener.

All three rehashed versions manage to substantially change this already weighty track. They all show exactly how a remix can take and emphasise the esteemed highlights of an original, yet give sounds which are great in their own right. Overall, this is a heavy EP – definitely for those who like sounds as deep as the greatest abyss.

‘Love Handles You’ remix EP is out on June 8.
