Fans of multi-layered and tightly woven tech house will already be familiar with Edgar de Ramon, and here he serves up another fine EP that will likely have many more people taking note. It comes on the Kiara imprint which has been his home before, and is bolstered with a solid remix from Minus’s Barem.
The Spaniard’s style is one of great detail, with an almost indecipherable amount of percussive details interweaving with each other above loopy, slippery bass. That’s certainly the deal here anyway, on all three tracks: The first is Lighthouse, a non-stop affair that will have you dancing for hours on end. Barem remixes it into something a little heavier and even darker in his usually inimitable style before the flip side offers two more irresistibly tech-y tracks. First is Single right, which ducks and dives up and down through some shadowy back streets in the middle of a city, and the last is Secret Point, with plenty of off time drum frills and drum rolls, surging bass notes and a generally intriguing sense of textural groove. Another winning EP from de Ramon, then.
