“Some peoples fathers listened to the Rolling Stones, mine listened to Pete Tong!” Says Amy Peat, senior writer and reviewer for The Underground. “Late 80‘s/ early 90’s old skool dance influenced my childhood, as listening to Todd Terry, Marshall Jefferson and Inner City was the norm, so I guess that’s where my love for house music came from.”
As Amy got older, she found her own specific tastes, went to underground gigs, listened to undiscovered DJ’s and read a LOT of other peoples work, eventually realising that she could actually write about music herself. This interest soon became enough of a passion to lead her to completing a degree in Journalism this year. “Aside from University, turns out that some of the stuff I wrote wasn’t all that bad – before The Underground I have previously had work published for Resident Advisor and Mixmag” Says Amy. “I continuously hunt down the best in new music, always looking for that something extra special.”
So, if you think you have that something and would like Amy to write a review or piece about you or your artist, give her a shout at amy@theunderground.eu
